Salgesch Bahnhofstrasse is busier than Zurich Bahnhofstrasse. These 800m or so from the church to the SBB station are quite a challenge. If you add the directly adjacent paths and roads, you will find 10 wineries here, a real “wine street”.

Fortunately, the most beautiful winery is located right at the beginning of this wine route. About a hundred years ago, our grandfather left the upper village and built his new winery next to the church in 1928. In the heart of the village we have been allowed to process the grapes, make and sell the wine for almost a hundred years. I like to be there.

Church – schoolhouse and rectory, municipal workshop and our winery characterize the image of this place. I like to hear the children going to school in the morning or when the church bells ring.

I am less pleased with the drivers who speed to the station. Dear people, this is a 30 zone!

And while we’re at it, the road is off to a promising start. In recent years we have done a lot, also in cooperation with the municipality, to make the neighborhood more beautiful. Now it would be appropriate to make the rest of Bahnhofstrasse a bit more inviting as well.

From the train station to just before our winery, it’s a street like you find in many places, not much character in it. A rather sad affair. The safety of pedestrians is not guaranteed, the “goudron masses”, which become wider towards the station, invite people to speed.

After all, on this road we greet visitors to our village. Guests arriving by train and, since the tunnel under the “Hubil”, motorists from Bahnhofstrasse also find their way to the rest of the village. I believe that the municipality should design the road accordingly. Everybody wins.

Well, people should go to the cellars and buy wine…. What do you need a beautiful road when you have found a place in one of the beautiful carnotzets.

See you soon.
