Niiws us um Hüüs, Communication 23

On August 29, just on the patron saint’s day of the most beautiful wine village in Switzerland, we were allowed to process the first grapes of the 2020 grape year. Soon these grapes are fermented and have already passed the most important stage, alcoholic fermentation, on the way to becoming wine.

With the wimden the vine year ends and the wine year begins. And it starts well. After the “Müschterlis” of the last two weeks, we are now really getting started.

For the 92nd time these days we open our cellar doors for the main season of 2020s wimden. A beautiful and exciting moment.

This year, many things are new, starting with myself. I have stood at the grape reception every year for over 45 years and have seen many beautiful grapes pass me by. With joy I found them in the bottle and welcomed them back in the wine glass.

But even more beautiful were the meetings with them dear grape suppliers. Joy and sorrow of the past year were exchanged with each other and over all the years many beautiful memories resulted. Many thanks.

I have placed the supervision and responsibility of the grape reception in the hands of Fadri. Actually, he’s been doing that all the last few years. Now he will control the quality of the grapes directly at the grape reception and initiate the first vinification steps.

After revising the internal procedures, we saw that the cellar must take charge of the grape processing as early as possible. We save time and money, unnecessary coordination effort is eliminated and quality can be better promoted. Dear cellar team, I wish us a nice and accident-free wimder time.

Fadri, thank you very much for your effort and good luck with the additional task. Even though I stay away from the grape reception with a teary eye, I am happy to stop by the grape reception from time to time and say hello.

I wish everyone a wonderful wimder time.

See you soon.
