The Tête du Géant at the foot of the Domaine de Ravoire

When I visited another great wine region before the harvest, I was told, “The first 100 years are difficult, then it works”. Well, we’ll soon have that too.

So I finished my last niiws about 5 months ago. We went into hibernation “niiws-wise” and got 5months closer to our first 100 years.

And, dear readers, many things have happened. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much we experienced together, except for that awful Corona time. Let’s hope we can leave those behind soon.

It was anything but quiet at our place. The adaptation of the whole vinification processes continued, the quality optimization was further advanced (2020 will be an excellent vintage!).

Something really big is brewing in wine: This much is said, we have 2020 five different grape varieties specially cared for and accompany them into the bottle. 2023 the wine will be filled… mmmhhhh.

We were able to expand our vineyards, in Tabär above Leuk we were able to take over about 1ha of vines and plant new ones. We were able to further expand our vineyard hearts “Hölle and Tschangerang” and in Saillon we took over a vineyard of about 5 ha.

The vineyard “Domaine Tête du Géant” is located at the foot of the Domaine de Ravoire, at the exit of the gorge where in his time the Valais Robin Hood “Farinet” was caught by the Valais police. You will soon learn more about Farinet here.

The French painter Gustave Courbet lived and worked in the same place. His works are exhibited throughout the great places including the Louvre and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, to name a few. “The Origin of the World” is his most famous painting. A very special place, not only for Gustave Courbet.

Many exciting things happened. We look to the future with enthusiasm and look forward to tackling this future with you.
