“And why are you buying from us?”

Camilla Gisler (35) from Zurich, an employee in a law firm, loves to swim in the Limmat for life, loves to spend the evening in cheerful company at aperitifs in the city.

Rhoneblut: What comes to mind spontaneously when you hear “Swiss wine”?
Camilla Gisler: A taste you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

RB: And with the term “Valais wines”?
CG: Aromatic, full-bodied, mineral and complex wines.

RB: And to “Albert Mathier & Söhne AG”?
CG: A guarantee to always get the above quality features.

RB: Please tell us about your wine highlight of the last twelve months, a special moment of pleasure with a Mathier wine.
CG: Always a highlight, even though it’s so simple: a cozy aperitif with good friends. With the right wine, the most entertaining conversations arise every time.

RB: Can you remember when, how and where you got a taste for wine?
CG: It was a long road and not a sudden revelation. A bit like with coffee. I didn’t really like the taste at first. After that, only the taste of certain wines. And slowly I feel my way to finding something special and unique in each wine.

RB: You are a friend of cozy aperitif rounds. Which wine is at the top of the your list? And if it’s not wine?
CG: Clearly, the Aphrodine! I am currently discovering the Farinet for myself. A new creation from the house of Albert Mathier. So I’ll stick with the wine and choose the one with the “bubbles”.

RB: What is your personal top 5 list of wines? You do not have to rely on Wines from our house limit …
CG: 1. Gerovassiliou Malagousia Epanomi
2. aphrodine
3. villa Maria Private Bin Organic Sauvignon Blanc
4. domaine de Ravoire rouge
5. farinet

RB: If you had to choose: white, red or rosé?
CG: White or rosé. Red only very rarely for special dinners.

RB: Heavy or light?
CG: Light, yet with a certain complexity and a touch of freshness. In any case not too heavy red wines

RB: Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, USA or Australia?
CG: That doesn’t really matter that much to me. First and foremost, the taste and aroma must be right. Lately, however, I have been paying more attention to buying regional or at least European wines. We have enough great producers and don’t really need to import wines over 15’000 km from overseas

RB: And last but not least: Why do you buy wine from the Albert Mathier & Sons wine family?
CG: I would like to support the regional, Swiss producers so that this local craft is preserved. Wine production, I find, is an important part of the history of every part of Europe.
