As part of our “Table & Terroir” series, Amedee Mathier was a guest yesterday at the “LeCrans Hotel & Spa” in Plans-Mayens high above Crans-Montana – for lunch and an exchange about our wines at the restaurant “Le Mont Blanc.” The location is among the most impressive in Switzerland: from the terrace, especially in sunshine and clear visibility, the view opens across the chain of four-thousand-meter peaks of the Valais Alps all the way to Mont Blanc.
LeCrans is an exceptionally refined boutique hotel – you feel as if you are in your own luxurious private chalet. Only seventeen rooms and suites, but truly remarkable ones: the finest alpine materials, great attention to detail, and a very special alpine coziness. A highlight is the intimate spa with plenty of stone, wood, and tranquility – complemented by an indoor pool and a heated outdoor pool.
In the kitchen, Yannick Crepaux stands for a passionate, precise, and classically grounded approach with a clear focus on the product – without effects for the sake of effects.
The wine list, curated by sommelier Diego, feels like part of its own unique dramaturgy at the table – with a palpable joy in creative and unusual pairings. The selection of wines by the glass is particularly striking: unusually broad and of high quality. That Diego especially enjoys serving Valais wines pleases us greatly.
There was also an opportunity for a brief, warm introduction and exchange with the new General Manager, Etienne Biedermann – one of the youngest luxury hotel directors in Switzerland, who, even after his first days in the role, clearly brings great drive and empathetic energy to further refine #LeCrans.
The restaurant is also an exciting destination in Valais for non-hotel guests – even at lunchtime, with exceptional panoramic views in sunshine and clear conditions.
All that remains is to quote the renowned Swiss hotel ranking “The 150 Best Hotels in Switzerland” (Weber Verlag AG and NZZ) in its current 2025/26 edition: “It seems as if one ages more slowly at ‘LeCrans’ than elsewhere.”
